Galle Fort is one of the fine-preserved colonial forts in Asia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has a romantic atmosphere, cobblestone streets, a lighthouse and ramparts. Historical sites in the citadel consist of the island’s oldest breadfruit tree and the National Maritime Museum which shows marine artifacts from shipwreck explorations along the southern coast. The southern coastal city of Ambalangoda is simply an hour’s drive from Galle. There are many especially professional individuals in Sri Lanka’s conventional artwork and subculture scene.Wander around the Ambalangoda Mask Museum which has served as a representation of authenticity for many years. After that take a leisurely Madu River cruise where you can see wildlife up close and visit small islands. Additionally, Kosgoda Beach offers a turtle hatchery where endangered sea turtles are protected by raising their eggs before releasing them into the ocean. Visit Unawatuna Beach for a day. It’s a serene cove with palm trees encircling it perfect for relaxing. Weligama has a distinctive fishing custom where fishermen fish from stilts in shallow waters. Lastly, pay a visit to the Kalutara Hollow Dagoba, a stunning three-story building featuring murals that portray events from the Lord Buddha’s previous incarnations.
